Throwing Caution to the Wind

I’ve always been a pretty shy person.

I’m the definition of an introvert in that I live in my own bubble and stepping out of that bubble freaks me out even in my late thirties.

I know what I’m good at, and frankly it’s just easier to do those things with full confidence than to dive head first into unknown territory.

The thing is, I know that all God is calling me to do requires me to step out my comfort zone.

This blog post isn’t for the people who always raise their hands first. This is for the person who has been tip toeing around their purpose for any number of reasons. This is for the person who was told they weren’t good enough or smart enough as a child. This is for the person who has found their sweet spot behind the scenes knowing full well it’s time to come to the front of the room. This is for the woman (or man) who has a dream that seems so far from reality that trying just seems like a waste of time.

On a personal front, I’m tired of letting life’s circumstances distract me.

I’m tired of wondering where I’d be had I started years ago.

I’m grateful for all the doors God has allowed me to walk through but sometimes I can’t help but think about every time I ran in the opposite direction because I was intimidated by the process.

The thing is, my momma didn’t raise a fool and God didn’t create me to sleep on the gifts I have yet to even discover or develop. The same can be said for you.

It’s time pray bigger. It’s time to believe bigger.

It’s time to live a life that reflects GREATER faith.

Y’all……It’s time to throw all caution to the wind.

What does that mean?

It is time to focus more on God’s promises than our past.

It’s time to feed our faith more so that we can show up more.

It’s time to trust God in new territories, knowing there is no such thing as failure when we are obedient to what God has called us to do.

It’s time to live our lives in a way that honors God and playing it safe doesn’t honor God.

Playing it safe means our faith never evolves.

Playing it safe means we take the chance of leaving this earth with dreams and talents and gifts never realized.

Playing it safe means we live in fear (of rejection or failure or worst case scenarios or looking like a fool or not getting it perfect).

Playing it safe means never taking our focus off what we see but instead trusting God enough to believe in what we cannot see (Hebrews 11:1).

If God’s word says that through Him all things are possible (Phillippians 4:13), then I want to live as though the possibilities are endless.

So here’s some tough love from one creative to another…..

Not knowing how to do something is not an excuse not to do it.

The only way to get better at something is to try.

The only way to get over the fear is to do.

The only way to reach your full potential is to step into the unknown.

Yes, imposter syndrome is real.

But so is everything that God has put on the inside of us.

There’s so much more I could say but if you don’t get anything else out of these words, I want to remind you that YOU CAN. If you struggle to believe this for yourself, I encourage you to make time to read God’s word so that you are reminded of who you are in His eyes. Quiet the voices around you or in your head that pull you down and replace them with scriptures and affirmations that lift you up daily.

I’ll be right there with you….
